Solar Cells
Solar cells are semiconductor devices that directly convert sunlight into electricity. Our A-300 solar cell has a rated power value of 3.1 watts and a conversion efficiency of between 20% to 21.5%. We believe the A-300 solar cell has the highest conversion efficiency available for the mass market. In addition, our solar cells use technologies which enable them to capture more sunlight and convert more sunlight into energy. Our A-300 solar cell is designed without highly reflective metal contact grids or current collection ribbons on the front of the solar cells. This feature enables our solar cells to be assembled into solar panels that exhibit a more uniform appearance than conventional solar panels.
Solar Panels
Solar panels are solar cells electrically connected together and encapsulated in a weatherproof package. We believe solar panels made with our solar cells are the highest efficiency solar panels available for the mass market. Because our A-300 solar cells are more efficient relative to conventional solar cells, when our solar cells are assembled into panels more power can be incorporated into a given size package. Higher solar panel efficiency allows installers to mount a solar power system with more power on a given roof or site area.
SunPower's solar panels use our breakthrough all back contact solar cells which generate up to 50% more power than conventional solar cells.
